What Happened to the Playstation Network?
PlayStation gamers are currently experiencing a major outage affecting Sony's PlayStation Network (PSN). The issue impacted various consoles, including the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PS Vita, and even older devices like the PlayStation 3. Due to this outage, many players were unable to launch or play games online, causing frustration for those looking to enjoy their evening.
Sony's official PSN Service Status page acknowledged the problem, stating that users might have trouble starting games or using apps and network features. They assured everyone that they were working to fix the issue as quickly as possible.
Some users encountered the error "PS5 error code WS-116522-7," which Sony said was caused by a system software update failure. This error stopped players from launching games or using apps until the network was fixed. However, games that didn't need an internet connection still worked, allowing some users to keep playing offline.

The PlayStation Network (PSN) outage caused problems with both gaming and network features. Users trying to sign in couldn't access multiplayer games or even single-player games that required an online connection. The issue affected a wide range of PlayStation devices, including the PS5, PS4, PS Vita, and PS3.
One specific error that some PS5 users encountered was “PS5 error Code WS-116522-7,” which was related to a system software update failure.
