Why is the Star of Jacob Trending on Tiktok?
A TikTok star named Jacob Rutkowski made a viral claim about the "Star of Jacob," which he says signals the return of Jesus. This claim is based on a prophecy in the Bible's Book of Numbers.
In his video, Jacob mentions the story of the three wise men who followed a special star to find Jesus in a stable when he was born. According to Christian belief, this star is considered "extraordinary" and is seen as a sign of Jesus' return to Earth.

In a video, Rutkowski claimed that the "Star of Jacob" would appear soon and encouraged people to look at the night sky to see a special celestial event mentioned in the Bible. However, others quickly pointed out that the "Star of Jacob" is not a real astronomical event but only exists as a myth in the Bible. One TikTok user even made a video explaining that the "Star of Jacob" isn't an actual star, but something mentioned only in biblical texts.
"I see him, but not now; I behold him, but not near. A star is emerging from Jacob; A scepter is rising from Israel, and it smashes the brow of Moab and the foundation of all the sons of Seth."
This prophecy is often interpreted to refer to a future leader or savior emerging from Israel.
People's Belief
People have wondered if the Star of Jacob really appeared when Jesus was born. Some think it might have been a comet or a special star.
In 1977, someone thought an old comet might have been the Star of Bethlehem, but others disagreed because comets are usually seen as bad signs.
Also, in 7 B.C., the planets Jupiter and Saturn lined up, and some thought that could have been the Star. This kind of event happened again in 2020 and in 3 B.C. with Jupiter and Venus.
So, in the Bible, the Star of Jacob means both the birth of Jesus and a special event in the sky.
