Tamika Huston was a 24-year-old woman who went missing in May 2004 in South Carolina. Her family reported her missing after they couldn’t contact her. Investigators found her car abandoned and discovered disturbing evidence, including blood stains linked to Tamika in a former boyfriend’s apartment. After a long investigation, her ex-boyfriend, Christopher Hampton, confessed that they had an argument, and he killed her.
He led police to her burial site, and in 2005, he was sentenced to life in prison. Tamika’s case highlighted the lack of media attention on missing women of color, leading to the creation of the Black and Missing Foundation.

Tamika Huston died in May 2004 during a fight with her boyfriend, Christopher Hampton. The argument started when Tamika asked him for money, and he got angry. In a fit of rage, he threw a hot iron at her, hitting her in the head and knocking her out. After she died, Hampton panicked and tried to hide her body.
He buried her in a wooded area near Spartanburg, South Carolina. A year later, he confessed to the crime and showed police where he had buried her. Hampton was later arrested and sentenced to life in prison for her murder.
