What's in The New Fortnite Update?

The new Fortnite update, V31.20, adds a lot of exciting content. It introduces a special game mode called Day of Doom, where players team up to either collect items as Doom's Henchmen or stop them as Avengers. 

A new Iron Man skin and story quest are also part of this update. For LEGO Fortnite fans, there's a new expansion called The Lost Isles, featuring five new areas to explore, including beaches and mountains. Klombos, creatures from a previous update, are back and can be befriended. 

The LEGO update also brings new weapons like a pirate musket and throwing spears, and a Tropical Treasures LEGO Pass with extra quests. New foods like bananas and pineapples, along with new LEGO Marvel skins for Wolverine and Spider-Man, add more fun to the game.

Creative Updates and Fixes

Fixes:

• Fixed an issue that prevented the Chains of Hades from appearing in the Creative inventory.
• Fixed an issue in Create mode where devices like the Class Designer, with options that overlapped with Island Settings, were incorrectly overwriting the value of the Island Setting of the same name after navigating to Island Settings.
• Fixed an issue where Input Trigger Next/Prev Item bindings were flipped for the mouse wheel.

Devices Fixes:

• Updated the Distance option entry steps on the Decal device to more easily read values.

Creative and UEFN Updates and Fixes

Fixes:

• Fixed an issue where the Trick Tile device would sometimes use incorrect textures on targets.
• Fixed an issue that prevented players from traveling between Hiding Prop gallery devices after another player used them.
• Fixed incorrect descriptions for the Item Placer.
• Added an inventory description to the Modded Weapon Case Gallery.
• Fixed an issue with Input Trigger Pressed events firing as Released events when a user was pressing touch screen buttons.

UEFN Updates and Fixes

New:

• Changed the !EarlyAccess devices folder name to !Beta.

Fixes:

• During texture cooks, resizing now accounts for the RGBA32F Source Data size in the memory estimates.
• Fixed the validation error that occurred when changing the SearchSpeed property of Chests.
• New quest bangs, once removed, do not reappear when the client is relaunched.
• Fixed an issue where materials with alpha holdout blend mode failed to cook.
• Validation issues found in textures are now treated as errors instead of warnings.

Verse Updates and Fixes

Language Fixes:

• Fixed a bug that caused the server to crash when rolling back compound assignments (+=, -=, /=, *=) to local variables.

Fixes:

• Teleporting the player no longer zeroes out their pitch.

How Long Does The New Fortnite Update Take?

The new Fortnite update usually takes around two to four hours of downtime before the game is back online. For instance, the recent update, version 31.20, had a shorter downtime of about two hours. 

During this time, the servers are offline to install the update and ensure everything works correctly. If the update downtime is shorter, like with version 31.20, the game might be accessible sooner than expected. 

How Many GB is The New Fortnite Update?

The new Fortnite update is 6.73 GB on PS5, 8 GB on Xbox, 6 GB on PC, and 7 GB on Nintendo Switch. The update, which is part of the "Absolute Doom" season, is smaller compared to some previous updates. Although Epic Games hasn’t officially announced the new features yet, players have noticed some changes. 

The update came after a brief downtime of about 1 hour and 47 minutes, which was shorter than initially expected. Players on Xbox might see larger file sizes due to a bug, but restarting the console should fix this.
