No, Zoe Ball does not have any illness. Zoe Ball is back on BBC Radio 2 after taking a break from her breakfast show for over six weeks. During her time away, Scott Mills filled in for her. Zoe hadn't hosted the show since August 8.
When she returned on Monday, she greeted listeners by saying, "Morning gorgeous people, it's me, Zoe the happy wanderer. I've wandered back."
Why is Zoe Ball Absent From Radio 2?
Zoe Ball's recent absence from her show surprised listeners, especially since she had just taken a holiday. A spokesperson from BBC Radio 2 said they are excited to have her back. Ball confirmed on X that she would return and thanked Scott Mills and DJ Spoony for covering for her.
When Mills hosted the show for the first time, he didn't explain why Ball was away. He welcomed listeners by saying, "Good Morning. You weren't expecting me, were you? It's Scott Mills here. If you usually wake up at 6:30 to hear Zoe, don’t worry! You haven’t overslept. I’m doing the breakfast show today, so don’t panic!"

The radio presenter thanked Mills for taking care of the show while she was away and mentioned there would be more information about her absence later. She joked that she hadn't gone to Turkey for cosmetic surgery, responding to a listener's playful message.
Before returning to the show, she posted on X, thanking her colleagues for their hard work during her time off. During her first show back, she sent love to her friends Lauren Laverne and Jamie Theakston, who have both been diagnosed with cancer recently. She confirmed that they are receiving treatment and are doing well.
Who is Zoe Ball?
Zoe Ball is a British broadcaster and presenter. She was the first woman to host the breakfast shows on BBC Radio 1 and Radio 2. Zoe also presented the children's show Live & Kicking with Jamie Theakston from 1996 to 1999.
She participated in the third season of Strictly Come Dancing and later became the host of its spin-off show, Strictly Come Dancing: It Takes Two, replacing Claudia Winkleman in 2011. Zoe hosted this show until 2021 and also led the Strictly Come Dancing Live Tour in 2011 and 2015.
In 2018, it was announced that she would be the new host of BBC Radio 2's main breakfast show, taking over from Chris Evans in January 2019.

Zoe Ball Career
Zoe Ball started her television career as a presenter on the children's show Playdays. Since 2019, she has hosted the breakfast show on BBC Radio 2, taking over from Chris Evans, who had hosted it for nine years. Zoe made history as the first woman to host a breakfast show on Radio 2. She was also the first female host of the Radio 1 Breakfast Show, which she presented for two years starting in 1998.
In October 2005, Zoe Ball joined the third season of the BBC One talent show Strictly Come Dancing. She was paired with dancer Ian Waite. They finished in third place and scored 38 out of 40 (including two perfect scores of ten) for three dances during the season, as well as one dance in the Christmas special.
