Who was Connie Ridgeway from Netflix Jailbreak Love on the Run?
Connie Ridgeway was a resident of Rogersville, Alabama, known for her strong sense of community and patriotism. Born on July 4, she celebrated Independence Day as her birthday. Connie was a caring mother to two sons, Cameron and Austin Williams, and was actively involved in her church and local activities.
She was described as a kind and cheerful person, often helping her elderly neighbors by giving them rides when they needed assistance. She is a sweet, typical Christian, southern lady who always has a smile on her face.
Sadly, Connie was murdered in 2015, and her story is featured in the Netflix documentary Jailbreak: Love on the Run, which also explores the relationship between the man accused of her murder and a corrections officer who helped him escape.
Connie Ridgeway Death
On October 23, 2015, police were called to check on Connie Ridgeway at her home in the Meadowland Apartments in Rogersville, Alabama. When they arrived, they found Connie dead on her living room floor.
She had been stabbed to death, and this shocking event disturbed the quiet community of Rogersville. Former police officer Mark White mentioned that incidents like this can really shake up a small town. Connie's death was a tragic moment for her family and friends, and it left a lasting impact on the community.
Who is the Culprit in Connie Ridgeway Murder?
The main suspect in Connie Ridgeway's murder is Casey White. For five years, her case remained unsolved until 2020 when Casey confessed to killing Connie. His son, Austin, said that hearing the confession felt like a huge weight was lifted off their shoulders. However, Casey later changed his story and pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity.
While waiting for his trial in Lauderdale County Jail, Casey started a relationship with Vicky White, a corrections officer. Things took a dramatic turn when it was revealed that Vicky helped him escape from prison, leading to an 11-day manhunt for both of them. This chase ended on May 9, 2022, when they crashed their car in Indiana. Casey survived and surrendered, but Vicky died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
In 2023, Casey pleaded guilty to escaping from custody and was sentenced to life in prison. The state decided to drop the trial for Connie’s murder charges to save resources, and Connie’s sons supported this decision.

Jailbreak: Love on the Run is a documentary that explores the romance between Casey White and Vicky White, focusing on their escape from prison and the dramatic conclusion of the manhunt that followed. The documentary is set to premiere on Netflix on Wednesday, September 25, 2024.
